Painful Reflections

I can't walk - just hobble
My parts are sore - in trouble
Lying down looking at the beach
Grand-Dauhter there, beyond reach
Why did I do it?

I've one good leg - other knackered
Can't walk straight - tendons splattered
Did twenty six miles, began with smiles
Leg collapsed at only six miles
Why did I do it?

When you grow old, you learn common sense
You sit and relax, no longer tense
Consider things, watch more TV
Other oldies do - but not for me
Why did I do it?

I was happy before - feeling right fine
'til I discovered I'd done sixty nine
Marathons run - one short of a ten
So back out I went - into training again
Why did I do it?

My pals sit around having a jar
Drinking their pints, down in the bar
I cycle round, after running twenty miles
Some drinks, bu sitting's not my style
Why did I do it?

Today it hurts, the pains supreme
After the tablets, pain killing cream
Learned the lesson, marathon's done
Get myself mended - only short runs
But, Will I do it?
